This outstanding Diamondtina was made from a blend of 70% Pinot Noir and 30% Chardonnay. Pinot Noir, which is such a crucial component of most great Champagnes, performs particularly well in the very cool vineyards of the Noack’s Rocky Gully vineyard. The wine was produced using the traditional méthode champenoise and left on its lees for three years to add further complexity.
The 2016 Diamondtina has a brilliant onion skin colour and voluminous small bead that has characterised this wine style over the years. The enticing bouquet is tight and clean, with youthful citrus characters and attractive nutty yeast aromas. On the palate, the fresh and intense clean citrus flours are perfectly balanced by the crisp acidity. The finish is long and leaves delicious lingering flavours. The 2016 Diamondtina is already a great wine but will develop further depth and complexity over the next few years.
