PRESS RELEASE – Friday 23rd June 2017

Established in 1985 by the Noack family, Old Kent River Wines became renowned for their cool climate single vineyard wines in the late nineties, winning many trophies and accolades since their first vintage in 1991.

Planning their successor, the Noack family welcomed new generation managing director and business partner Josh Hardy into the fold in 2015. Josh has brought extensive business, finance and analytical management experience, along with his long-time love of wine and all it involves.

Based in the Margaret River Wine Region, Josh has made many changes since taking the helm, including employing new winemaker Marius Mencel in 2016, moving the winemaking to Margaret River, updating the branding and developing four new products.

The new products include two new Frankland River wines, already in the making and to be launched later this year, a Rose made from our famed Pinot Noir, as well as a crowd pleasing Sparkling Rose from a blend of our Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Along with these new single vineyard wines, we will also be extending our brand to a multi-regional offering by introducing a Margaret River Semillon Sauvignon Blanc and a Cabernet Sauvignon to the portfolio.

“The next logical step for us is to move the Cellar Door to Margaret River. We have now found a suitable venue and will transition over the next few months. With the upgrades to the Busselton Margaret River Airport underway, the wine tourism opportunities are much greater for our flourishing brand, also as we are about to send our first shipment of wines to China. An announcement will be made in due course as to the venue location and opening date.” Josh Hardy

The quaint Cellar Door & Café located between Denmark and Walpole, will be closing its doors after the July school holiday trading period. Famed for the large blue marron sculpture, sparkling scones, burl tables and fresh marron it will be the end of an extraordinary era, yet the start of a new exciting adventure. We would like to thank all our staff, past and present, who have helped to create many wonderful experiences for our customers. For those who wish to visit one last time, there will be some bargains to be had with certain wines on sale over the next few weeks before closing.
